Ajuga reptans ‘Black Scallop’

Bugle plants are well known for their performance in the shade, but Ajuga reptans ‘Black Scallop’ combines their traditional low maintenance and exceptional ground cover with a surprising tolerance of sunlight. Indeed, its green foliage develops an interesting, liquorice tint when exposed to the sun’s rays, making the ‘Binblasca’ variety is an eye-catching addition to the front of any border. It can also be used in rockeries, for it flourishes in most soil conditions. Additionally, the hardy perennial produces spikes of violet flowers which appeal to pollinators in May and June, so it is well-suited to wildlife gardens. Height: 15cm (6); Spread: 60cm (2’0).
