Chaenomeles x superba ‘Elly Mossel’

Chaenomeles x superba ‘Elly Mossel’ is an adaptable and attractive shrub. It can be planted as a free standing specimen, or trained as a wall shrub. It can also be planted in lines to create a colourful, low hedge. In spring it bears many scarlet red flowers with yellow stamens. Later in the year the shrub grows apple like fuits, although more for visual interest than for eating (they are only palatable if they are cooked). This Japanese Quince is ideal for wildlife gardens or planted near to woodland areas. Height: 120cm (48). Spread: 200cm (78).
