Ficus lyrata Compacta

Well known as the Fiddle-leaf Fig, this elegant house plant is grown for its impressive foliage. Each leaf is stiff and has a leathery feel with a distinctive curved shape and pale, prominent veins. Ficus lyrata ‘Compacta’ is a luscious evergreen, with a lovely glossy sheen that reflects light beautifully. Although it grows relatively slowly, if given the right growing conditions it will ultimately form a tall, slender specimen that will be a fine focal point for your home. Ficus lyrata ‘Compacta’ needs plenty of bright light which is why it is a good choice for a conservatory or bright living room. If it is getting insufficient amounts of light it will start to shed its leaves. Keep away from radiator and cold draughts also. The best temperature should be between 16C (60F) and 24C (75F). Water well between the spring and autumn. Let the surface of the soil dry out each time. In the winter reduce the amount of watering but do not let it dry out completely. Feed between March and September. Height: 300cm (118?). Spread: 100cm (39).
