Weigela florida ‘Alexandra’

If you are looking for a dark leaved shrub then Weigela florida ‘Alexandra’ is a superb choice. Weigela was brought to Britain from the Far East in the mid 19th Century and since then many different varieties have been developed. Weigela florida ‘Alexandra’ is a mid sized Weigela and is suitable for garden borders in small and medium sized gardens. Its plum coloured leaves and pink tubular flowers in late spring and early summer certainly give this plant the ‘wow factor’. The RHS have included this plant on its ‘Perfect for Pollinators’ list, due to its ability to attract bees to gardens. It is very easy to grow, with almost zero maintenance required once planted. It thrives in a full sun or partial shade position, with moist soil. Height & Spread: 1.5m (5′).
