Salix helvetica

Also known as the Swiss Willow, this dwarf alpine shrub produces small silvery, oval-shaped leaves and grey-white catkins in spring as the leaves emerge. Extremely hardy and tolerant of exposure due to its alpine origins, Salix helvetica is a reliable shrub for coastal gardens, steep banks, slopes and rock gardens. It would also be a fantastic specimen for adding silvery contrast to the front of borders, where it forms a neat mound and requires virtually no maintenance. This robust willow has been awarded an RHS AGM for its excellent garden performance. Height and spread: 100cm (39).
