Wisteria brachybotrys ‘Showa-beni’

This elegant Silky Wisteria is so called for its downy leaflets along the main leaf stem. The long, pinnate leaves make a lovely backdrop for the lilac-pink, fragrant flowers that appear in late spring and early summer. Unlike the better know Chinese Wisteria, the individual flowers of this species are much larger, forming short, somewhat stumpy racemes.
