Clematis x durandii
The blooms of Clematis x durandii are truly unique. Their golden anthers contrast with a backdrop of indigo petals which, in turn, sit against a background of green, corrugated sepals. What’s more, these flowers thrive from June to September, giving keen gardeners ample time to appreciate their distinctive appearance. Indeed, the RHS expressed its admiration by granting this hardy climbing shrub an Award of Garden Merit (AGM). Unlike other varieties, Durand’s Clematis is best suited to beds and borders, although it will climb fences or trellises when fastened in place. Height: 2m (6’7); Spread: 1m (3’3); Pruning group: 3.
