Cephalanthus occidentalis
Cephalanthus occidentalis is an unusual deciduous shrub, rarely seen in UK gardens. It bears creamy-white, rounded, button-like flowers with a powerful fragrance from late summer to autumn (giving this plant its common name of the Button Bush). These blooms are followed by spherical, golden brown fruits, extending the season of interest well into the winter. With both blooms and fruits that are attractive to wildlife, Cephalanthus occidentalis makes a useful addition to wildlife gardens. Height: 200cm (78). Spread: 250cm (98).
