Clematis ‘Rasputin’
One of the darkest flowered of all clematis is Clematis ‘Rasputin’ which has deep violet blooms with a velvety appearance. They have furrowed sepals and undulating margins, creating unusual flowers which are borne in profusion from July to September. A position in light shade produces the very darkest colour of blooms and these team beautifully with paler flowering varieties of Clematis or climbing Roses. Height: 3m (10′). Spread: 1m (3′). Pruning group: 3.
