Lychnis chalcedonica

Lychnis chalcedonica, otherwise known as Maltese Cross, is the most spectacular of perennials. With tight groupings of crimson star-shaped flowers displayed on statuesque stems, the Maltese Cross flowers throughout the mid-summer months, giving spectacular colour and excitement to the back of sunny borders. Lychnis chalcedonica thrives in a moist boggy location, so is perfect at the edge of garden ponds and in marsh-like areas. Maltese Cross is the proud holder of an RHS AGM. Height: 120cm (48). Spread: 30cm (12).
