Chaenomeles x superba ‘Clementine’

Flowering early in the spring, Chaenomeles x superba ‘Clementine’ is a welcome sight, heralding the start of a new season with its double orange-red blooms borne on bare, spiny stems. Pollinating insects make a bee-line for its rich nectar which is so valuable early in the year. After the flowers, the green leaves appear, to be followed later by aromatic fruits ripening from green to vibrant yellow in autumn. These fruits can be made into tasty jellies and preserves. This variety of Japonica has a rounded, spreading form and makes an excellent wall shrub or a fine specimen for the border. Height and spread: 150cm (59).
