Gunnera manicata

Gunnera is the ?big daddy? of the gardening world, and best suited to a large space where it can grow to its full potential. The giant, umbrella-like foliage can reach over 1m across metres across, and will add a real ?wow? factor to the garden! Throughout summer, this herbaceous perennial throws up erect panicles of red-brown flowers that rise on stiff stems above the leaves. Also affectionately known as Giant Rhubarb, Gunnera is robust, spectacular and architectural. They make great specimen plants for permanently moist soils. Perfect for woodland areas, or the damp soil beside a pond where the reflection in water is especially beautiful. Height: 2.5m (8?) Spread: 4m (13?).
