Holly Olive is a delightful shrub which is very versatile and easy to grow. It can be grown in a wide range of soils from sand, chalk or clay. Osmanthus heterophyllus likes to be planted in full sun or partial shade in well-drained soil, Chinese Holly as the name suggests resembles our native holly tree, and being multi-spined it also has a dense, evergreen growing habit. With fragrant white flowers in late summer and autumn which are replaced with blue/black fruits instead of the traditional bright red, but they are still just as attractive. Requiring very little maintenance this is a great shrub for beginners and is fun to keep in shape. Height: 5m (16′). Spread 5m (16′).
