Rhus aromatica ‘Gro-Low’
Rhus aromatica ‘Gro-Low’ does exactly that. It is a low growing groundcover plant, that is good for filling empty space with greenery, and is particularly useful for areas that are hard to reach and maintain. For example; behind greenhouses, below house windows, or steep banks instead of grass turf. It does well in poor dry soils, so is a good option for below tree canopies and close to large conifers, where other plants might struggle to survive. In spring it produces small yellow flowers, that can turn into red berries later in the year. As autumn arrive the fragrant leaves of Sumach turn to fiery shades of red and orange and then fall, followed by fresh foliage in spring. This plant is known for being rabbit resistant. Height: 100cm (39). Spread: 300cm (118).
