Pyracantha ‘Soleil d’Or’

If you are looking for a shrub that has year round interest and is easy to care for, Pyracantha ‘Soleil d’Or’ is a superb choice. It is a dense, prickly shrub that is perfect for security hedging, making it much tougher for burglars to gain access to the garden. This Firethorn has masses of small white flowers in summer that are followed by a profusion of bright yellow berries. These look great if planted alongside Pyracantha ‘Saphyr Rouge’, which has red berries. The berries are excellent for attracting garden birds in the winter months when food is scarce. As well as planted in lines to create a hedge up to 3 metres in height, it can be planted as a wall shrub or as a single specimen in a shrub border. Height: 3m (10′).  Spread: 2.4m (8′).
