Phoenix Palm

Phoenix Palm is often known as Canary Island Date Palm because of its exotic appearance, but it looks just as at home in a British greenhouse, conservatory or even in a sheltered garden. If grown in a container the hardy perennial will reach approximately 1.8m (6′). However, if given plenty of sunshine and a protected site it can be planted outside where it could eventually reach a height of around 5m (16′). Phoenix canariensis blooms into a spectacular specimen plant with attractive, green fronds and a wide canopy of foliage. With such versatile uses, it’s easy to see why the RHS have awarded this plant an Award of Garden Merit. Height: 5m (16′). Spread: 3m (10′).
